Jorge Liderman

American composer (1957–2008)

Jorge Liderman was a composer of dual Argentine and American heritage, born in 1957. His work spanned multiple genres and collaborations, showcasing his versatility as a musician. Notably, Liderman received the prestigious Guggenheim Fellowship in 2003, which supported the creation of a new piece for Duo46, titled Aires de Sefarad: 46 Spanish Songs for Violin and Guitar.

Liderman's compositional career continued to flourish until his death in 2008. One of his final projects was the completion of a second set of 46 songs for Duo46, titled Aires de Sefarad II. In addition to his work as a composer, Liderman was also an educator, teaching composition at the University of California, Berkeley. Through his teaching and compositional endeavors, Liderman left a lasting impact on the music community, with his contributions still remembered today.
