Jerrold Lewis Bock, known professionally as Jerry Bock, was a prominent figure in American musical theatre, specializing in composition. Born in 1928, Bock's career was marked by notable collaborations and achievements in the music field. His work often paired him with lyricist Sheldon Harnick, resulting in some of the most iconic musicals of their time.

Bock's contributions to musical theatre earned him numerous accolades, including the Tony Award for Best Musical and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama for the 1959 musical Fiorello!, which he created alongside Sheldon Harnick. The duo's success continued with the 1964 musical Fiddler on the Roof, for which Bock received the Tony Award for Best Composer and Lyricist. Through his compositions, Jerry Bock left a lasting impact on the world of musical theatre until his passing in 2010.
