Henry Denker

Henry Denker was a versatile American writer who made significant contributions to the fields of literature, radio, television, and theater. Born in 1912, Denker's career spanned multiple mediums, including radio and television writing, playwriting, and novel writing. He is notable for his pioneering work in television, having created and written the first television series, False Witness, which aired on NBC-TV in 1939. Additionally, Denker penned the inaugural script for the esteemed religious radio series The Greatest Story Ever Told.

Denker's writing career was marked by prolific output and notable achievements. He authored 34 published novels, with 17 being selected for publication by Reader's Digest Condensed Books. His work in theater was also prominent, with six of his plays being produced on Broadway. Denker's background in law, having been trained as a lawyer, often influenced his writing, which drew upon his legal expertise. Throughout his career, Denker's work was recognized with prestigious awards, including a special George Foster Peabody Citation in 1949 for The Greatest Story Ever Told. He passed away in 2012, leaving behind a legacy as a pioneering and accomplished American dramatist.
